When should you hire a Landscape Designer?

Plan your spring landscape improvements with a designer in the fall and winter. During dormancy, a garden's structure is most apparent, and problems with drainage and wind damage become evident. At this time, the designer is less pressed so you get more attention. You have plenty of time to consider ideas, make changes and both interview and hire your contractor. This last point is key--if you wait until the busy spring season to contract your work, you may have to wait two months or more to get it, two months you could have been watching your garden grow!
